Melissa F. Brown, LLC, Fees
Initial Consultation: To prepare for the initial consultation, we provide the potential client with a packet of information to fill out and return to us to review prior to the meeting. Melissa and/or her associate, Katie Perkins, review all the material and create timelines, charts and strategy plans in order to provide as much information to the potential client about our assessment of their case as possible. Routinely, clients tell us they are pleased with our approach to the consultation and leave feeling informed and educated.
Retainer Contract: After the initial consultation, if the potential client and our firm are a good fit, we send a retainer contract that sets forth in detail our fees, as well as the client’s payment requirements.
We do not begin work on any new case until the retainer contract is signed and the retainer fee is paid. All potential clients who are sent a retainer agreement have fifteen (15) days from the day the offer is made to review, sign, and return the contract along with the retainer fee.
The retainer fee includes what we call an evergreen retainer fee. The evergreen retainer fee is monies that we hold in escrow until the end of each case to ensure final payment. If there is an outstanding balance at the end of the case, we use the evergreen funds to pay it. Any remaining funds are returned to the client.
Charges: Each month we send out detailed billing statements that reflect all work done on each case. The retainer agreement sets out all our fees and billing arrangements in detail.
